Newyork Newyork
There is something fascinating about big cities. Newyork is definitely one of them. I have always loved Newyork. It is such a melting pot. You see people from all over the world, different colour, different cultures, different ethnicity rubbing shoulders together. It is very fast paced and looks like everyone is in a hurry to get somewhere especially in Manhattan. The sounds and smells are very specific to certain areas. One street will have halal food truck serving chicken rice or middle eastern fare and on the other street you will see a mexican food truck selling tacos and empanadas, or you will see thai food or chinese noodles being sold in food trucks which has become very popular. In this fast paced life of newyorkers this is easy and cheap and quick food on the go. At the same time if you have the time , NYC has many fine dining restuarants and bars. You can go for any cuisine that your heart desires from Indian, Chinese , Mexican to Peruvian to name a few.
I must not forget to mention that NYC is paradise for shoppers. From your designer brands like Prada, Chanel, Fendi, Gucci and many more to high fashion department stores like Barneys, Saks Fifth Ave, Bloomingdales are all in Manhattan and the best place to start is Michigan 5th Ave.
I have been coming to Newyork since the time my sister got married and moved to US which was in 1994. Then my daughter decided to do her undergrad in Fashion from the Parsons school of design. So we used to come and visit her and now my son lives in the city. He lives in Brooklyn Williamsburg. Initially when he decided to move to Williamsburg we were not very sure. Brooklyn has been gentrifried and now it has a very nice young vibe. There are lot of bars and nice restaurants and cool movie theater called Night hawks and also Williamsburg theater. Some very nice hotels have also opened up. We usually stay at the William Vale Hotel. This is just across from the east river, you get a beautiful view of the Newyork skyline. It has a beautiful bar and Lounge on the Terrace called Westlite from here the views are phenomenal, has a very nice Italian restaurant called Leuca their pizzas are very nice and i particularly like their white bean hommus with wild mushrooms. They serve warm bread with olive oil and olive tapenade to start. You can get coffee and doughnuts from Du’s doughnuts. They have very nice upperlevel of garden area and a nice food truck if you feel like having burger and fries and tacos.
Just a couple of stops away from Manhattan Williamsburg has become very popular with the young millenial generation. On Bedford, Driggs and Wythe you have some very nice restaurants cafes and bars. If you need the rhthym of mahanttan and are looking for some relaxed pace then this is the place to be.
